This work is an endeavor to ground my familial legacy beyond colonial hegemony, tracing roots back to pre-colombian culture and harnessing futures for them / us. In practice, I’m asking what it means to create artwork as a mesoamerican, conversating with the knowledge, motifs, patterns that my ancestors developed for generations.
